The Lunar Abundance Book Tour!

An Abundant Life Book Tour Dr Ezzie Spencer

The best collaborations happen like… magic.

One balmy Bali afternoon some months ago, I was on Skype with my beloved friend Bec from Soul Sister Circle. We were chatting about, y’know, life, love and the universe, and then our conversation turned to the writing and publishing process for my Lunar Abundance book.

When I mentioned that the book would be published and launching soon, the question arose, suddenly, organically, simultaneously for us both:

Um … how would you feel about going on a book tour together?

It was an eager, whole-hearted, full-body YES from us both (you know when you FEEL those tingles?!).

The prospect felt aligned, fun, and filled with ease.

Bec has since done an incredible job pulling together some incredible events and so I’m excited to invite you to join us on the official Australian book tour for my forthcoming book:

An Abundant Life: Flourishing with the Cycles of the Moon.

The book will be published on 1 March 2017 – book ordering info coming soon.

These book tour events will be intimate evenings in Melbourne, Sydney and the Gold Coast, with connection and practical insights to help you create a more abundant life by following the moon cycle.

And…

These will be spirited sisterhood events, not just readings – we’ll have mingling, signings, and a dear friend joining us for a conversation at each event!

Letting Go :: Three Simple Ways to Release at the Full Moon

Dr Ezzie Spencer Lunar Abundance Releasing Full Moon

We make space for the new by letting go of the old.

In the Lunar Abundance practice, we set our intentions at the New Moon, and amongst other things, release at the Full Moon.

As it reflects the light of the Sun, the Full Moon illuminates our inner worlds, and reveals to us what we’re hanging onto.

This is the perfect time to pay attention to what we’re holding onto, and to let it go.

(when’s the next Full Moon? Download your free lunar planner here).

There’s also a Full Moon meditation for you to download at the end of this post.

Why release?

Terrible things do happen, of course. These experiences can be the fuel to create lasting change, for ourselves and for others.

In the Lunar Abundance system, the Full Moon is a time of “action”. So, take purposeful action at this moon phase.

On the personal development level, as you focus on what you want to cultivate in your life, you may benefit from letting go of that which is operating at the subconscious level — once you have fully felt and processed your emotions, and taken any appropriate action.

We can hoard all kinds of things, from emotion to physical possessions, from the old clothes (and goodness knows what else) in the closet, to the files clogging up our computer hard drive, outmoded ways of operating in the workplace, old money stories, and what happened to us in childhood.

And how to release? Here are three easy Full Moon release ceremonies.

I’m a lover of simplicity, so you will find that these cut right to the chase:

Wash it away

Allow yourself to fully feel what is coming up for you at this time.

Write it down, talk it out, allow your body to fully immerse in the emotion, then… Wash it off.

Take a shower, frolic in the ocean, luxuriate in the bath, dance outside in the rain.

And of course, the oldie and goodie: Cry it out.

Crying can be incredibly cathartic, transmuting grief and pain as you literally let it go.

How does it feel to have that weight lifted from your chest?

Burn baby burn

Write down on a piece of paper what is no longer serving you:

// Get your pen and purge onto the page.

// Then grab your matches, your candle, and burn that list.

// Even better :: gather a group of your sisters and gather around a fireplace, campfire- or candlelight will do.

Thrust your lists into the flame and let ’em BURN.

Check in : how does that feel? Lighter?

Shake your booty

This one you can do at home with music cranked in your lounge-room, or get outside into nature – your backyard, the beach, or even the park.

Even better- get together with a group and have a good laugh while you’re doing it- the best medicine!

Go for it! Shake your booty, shake your whole body, get your whirl on.

Reflect

Return to your New Moon intention: what did you invite into your life in this lunar cycle?

Do you feel like you have now created more space to welcome this in?

And:

Observe

What comes into your life as a result? I’m a big believer in paying attention to results to determine effectiveness, so pay attention to whether things start to shift and change in your external world as a result of you letting go through these simple release practices.

To say that I am excited about this podcast is an understatement.

Are you a creative entrepreneur and not yet listening to the Being Boss podcast? This is THE podcast to be listening to as Emily Thompson and Kathleen Shannon get real about what it takes to build and sustain an online business today.

I downloaded my first episode of podcast in late 2015 – one of the casual chats between Emily and Kathleen. I vibed with them both instantly, and as soon as I heard Emily’s voice I knew that we had to connect.

I signed up to receive Emily’s emails, flicked her a personal note, and squealed when I received her response: she had just been randomly perusing my Instagram.

Love me a bit of synchronicity!

Several Skype chats later and we’ve become good friends. And I was super happy to get a chance to chat with Kathleen as well as Emily on this latest episode of Being Boss.

When to Set Your New Moon Intention?

Dr Ezzie Spencer Lunar Abundance Intention Setting

Do I set my intention at the exact time of the New Moon?

If you have been following the Lunar Abundance practice, you will know that it starts with crafting your intentions at the New Moon (You can find out more about that here).

This post is about when to set your New Moon intention.

There may be good reasons for why practice suggestions are made (and I offer some below!) but if someone tells you must practice in a certain way, this may be a moment to practice discernment.

When we start a new practice – even a spiritual practice – we often bring over our old ways of needing to “get it right”.

We don’t need to imbue this practice with rigidity and perfectionism.

What I offer here is guidance to help you flow with the moon’s cycle, to become more gentle and loving with yourself, to trust more and enter into the flow of life.

The entire Lunar Abundance practice is intentionally designed to help you to cultivate self-knowledge, and create a better life.

There is some structure to this practice, and there are reasons why I suggest to do things in a certain way if you are following along with me.

So, with that in mind, as a general principle:

I suggest that you set your New Moon intention at the time of the New Moon, or once the new cycle has actually started (in other words, not before the New Moon).

Why? So often we race forwards to the Next Thing without pausing to take stock of where we are.

Part of this practice is to reflect on what has come to pass. As the moon wanes to darkness in the sky, one lunar cycle is drawing to a close. This is the time take the opportunity to practice reflecting on that previous lunar cycle.

Too often, we don’t take the time to look back to celebrate our achievements, and to feel into the best way forward for our dreams. This is why I suggest that we complete one lunar cycle before we start the next. Notice where you have been, give thanks for what you have received or learnt, and celebrate!

Then, I suggest that you set your intention on or just after the New Moon

I encourage you set to your intentions shortly after the New Moon time (I send emails with the time each month).

Again, don’t worry if it’s not on the buzzer. It does not need to be to the minute.

If the new moon is at 3 a.m. for instance, I don’t get up to set my intention. I am busy worshipping at the Temple of Sleep, and I’ll set my intention when I awake in the morning.

Remember, in Lunar Abundance we are working with the moon as a natural timekeeper. We are not suggesting that the Moon is actually making us do something. However, when you set your intention as close to the New Moon as possible that means that you get the benefit of a full lunar cycle (so, the month ahead) to work with your intention.

In the Lunar Abundance practice, we set our intentions at the New rather than Full Moon

This is because the New Moon is the first of eight moon phases: the beginning of the moon cycle, so the symbolic time for us to begin (again).

The Full Moon, for me, is a time to practice other abundance principles- that of impermanence, release, course-correction, and right action. I’ll write more about these in future posts.

If you forget to set your intention at the New Moon,

it is not too late.  You can still set an intention in the New Moon phase.

The New Moon phase lasts three or four days, depending on which moon cycle we’re in – you can find out the time/date of the next New Moon phase by downloading your free Lunar Planner for the Northern or Southern Hemisphere right here.

You can still set an intention if you miss the New Moon phase all together, although that means that you won’t have the full moon cycle to work with your intention.

If you come to the intention-setting much later in the cycle, you could take the opportunity to start tracking the moon and feeling your feelings and make a note of the next New Moon date so that you can return and set an intention at that stage.

I also email with times and dates for the new moon so you will never forget: sign up to receive these free email alerts here.

If you would like to set an intention that is not connected with the moon cycle, by all means, set an intention whenever you like. However if you’d like to practice my personal practice, which is a multi-layered practice that harnesses the power of the moon as natural time-keeper, and which has many benefits like bringing us back into connection with our bodies, feelings, and our natural environment – then the time to set an intention is at the New Moon.

The New Moon phase is just the first step in the Lunar Abundance practice,

Lunar Abundance is based on all 8 phases of the moon cycle. I teach the practice in depth in the online Lunar Abundance Salon, but you can start the practice right now though – by setting an intention at the next New Moon, and witnessing what unfolds in your own life as a result.

In future blog posts I will be returning with more about these other phases, and more information to help you with how to set a new moon intentions and also how to also some guidance on what new moon intentions to set.

For now I hope this piece has given some helpful guidance about how to start working with the Lunar Abundance practice.

Love,

Ezzie

Is it the Full Moon at the same time around the world?

Dr Ezzie Spencer Lunar Abundance Dancing Moons

Is it the Full Moon in Sydney at the same time as the Full Moon in London or New York?

This may seem obvious to some, but given that I live in Australia, one of the questions which I am asked at least once a week is whether those of you in the Northern Hemisphere (or elsewhere in the Southern Hemisphere!) can follow my lunar practice in real time.

In other words, do all of us around the world have the Full Moon – and all the moon phases – peaking at the same time?

The answer? Yes.

The Moon, of course, orbits the Earth, which in turn orbits the Sun. The peak of the Full Moon is when the Moon is opposite the Sun – 180 degrees away. Therefore the Full Moon (and the other moon phases) occur at the same time, regardless of where you are located on Earth.

The reason why I give different times and dates for the New and Full Moon phases (in my e-letter, which you can sign up for here) is because of timezones.

Once upon a time we measured time based on the sun’s zenith at noon; that led to umpteen timezones around the world. At one stage there were 300 timezones in the U.S. alone, which as you can imagine, led to many a headache.

Unified time zones based on longitude were introduced for practical reasons, for example to enable transport, communication and trade (and to save energy with daylight savings time). The position of Greenwich in the United Kingdom was adopted as the main time in the 19th century and today we still base the global timezones off that universal time- for peace of mind.

Australia’s geographical location means that we often seem to have the New or Full Moon ahead of the rest of the world- but it’s not the case.

Depending on daylight savings time, 7 a.m. on the East Coast of Australia (Sydney/Melbourne) on a Sunday is actually 10 p.m. in the United Kingdom on a Saturday and 5 p.m. on the Saturday on the East Coast of the United States.

But all those times and dates are happening simultaneously. 7am in Sydney is happening in parallel with 10 p.m. in London and 5 p.m. in New York the date before. It’s just appearing differently- because of timezones.

Does this make you reflect on time as a human construct? I mean, what is time really?

But I digress. Regardless of where you are on Earth, when it’s a Full Moon it’s a Full Moon. Same for New Moons (and all the other six main phases that we work with in the Lunar Abundance practice – more about those over here).

In other words: When I post on Instagram that there is a “Full Moon coming up in about three hours” – that’s the case around the world. If it’s coming up in three hours in Sydney, it’s also coming up in three hours for you in San Francisco, Stockholm and Perth.

If you were to look up in the sky at the Crescent Moon Phase and you were based in Austin or Berlin, you would see the same Crescent Moon as I would in Australia at that time (the moon will rise and set at different times, so it won’t be visible the whole time everywhere in the world, but each of the eight moon phases lasts 3-4 days apiece, and these phases are determined based on the moon’s position in relation to the earth and sun – so are consistent around the world).

Also note that if you are in the Northern Hemisphere, your view of the moon would be reversed to mine- so in the South, the Crescent Moon appears with light on the left, curving towards the right, and in the North the moon will appear with light on the right, curving left (more about Northern vs Southern Hemisphere in a future post).

Isn’t that a powerful concept?

That in this chaotic world, with so much difference and sadness and love – that we are all unified together on the same globe, under the same sky, watching the same moon.

Can you imagine how powerful it would be if we all worked with the phases of the moon together, at the same time?

Whilst this Lunar Abundance practice helps you cultivate self-knowledge and fill up our own cups, that’s not the end of the story – we also want to give back, to connect. This practice connects us to something bigger- and that is a great starting point to create a better world together.

Love,

Ezzie

Want to plan ahead? Download your free Lunar Planner here. There’s one for the Northern Hemisphere (based on US Eastern time) and the Southern Hemisphere (based on Australian Eastern Standard time). These lunar planners have the dates but not the exact times, so this is why I have simplified it down to the hemispheres rather than each individual timezone-  if I were to create individual lunar planners for all eight phases for all earthly timezones I would not have the time to blog or create gorgeous free things for you!

The exact times for the New and Full Moon for a few main timezones are sent out in my e-letters – sign up to receive these here.

Tell me in the comments below: did you ever wonder about the timezones question- and has this article made you reflect on the nature of time, and how connected we all really are?

A tale of two moon cycles (with an extended self-love coda)

Dr Ezzie Spencer Lunar Abundance Beach

What is the link between the moon cycle (in the sky) and our “moon” (menstrual) cycle?

Women often share with me their deeply felt connection with the moon.

You tell me that you feel the call of the moon. That just looking at the moon at night ignites your intuition and imagination, and evokes a remembering of sorts.

And after investigating La Luna for awhile, the question often arises: what’s the link between the cycle of the moon in the sky, and our menstrual cycle?

Sometimes there are follow-up questions too, occasionally voiced, and often just hovering in subtext- am I doing it right? And: can I still work with the moon if I don’t bleed (or if I don’t bleed at the New Moon?)

I explain this much more below but, my quick answer is: yes, yes, yes.

In my Lunar Abundance system, we work with the Moon as representing the yin to the yang of the Sun. I see the moon as a symbolic moving mirror into which we can gaze and explore aspects of ourselves, including our feelings, our subconscious mind, and our feminine way of being.

I use the terms “yin/feminine” and “yang/masculine” to refer to alternate modes of being or doing, both of which are available to us, regardless of gender (although the Lunar Abundance work seems to be vastly more interesting to women than it is to men- perhaps because women are more curious about their “feminine” than men).

On this reading, the moon’s cycle provides fertile ground through which to explore our feminine selves.

The menstrual cycle is one aspect of our relationship with the feminine. It is a female cycle, but just one of many physical cycles and rhythms that we experience. Others include our circadian rhythm (our 24 hour cycle), the REM sleep cycle and more- check out chronobiology. Longer cycles include the seasonal cycles and annual cycle of the Earth moving around the Sun. The menstrual cycle is a female cycle, but of course, not all women experience a menstrual cycle.

If you are not bleeding, it does not mean that you can’t work with the moon. Women pre- and post- the cycling era of their lives are still drawn to the moon. Women with cycle interruptions or irregularities are drawn to this work, as are pregnant and post-partum women, and women whose cycle is suppressed by hormonal contraceptives or other medicines, and women who have had permanent interventions such as hysterectomy.

All women can experience the feminine magic of Lunar Abundance. This is my personal practice, premised on the moon as being representative rather than causative. The Lunar Abundance system provides a map to practice coming home to a feminine way of being. My approach has many applications that are relevant for cultivating inner peace and an abundant life, which I teach in depth in the Lunar Abundance Salon.

In other words, you don’t need to be experiencing a menstrual cycle to find delight and magical benefits by following this particular lunar system. Yet I cannot ignore that over many years of doing this work with women, I have heard time and time again that, when women start to follow the moon:

* Note, I’m not a medical doctor. This is me relaying anecdotal evidence that many, many women have voluntarily shared with me over several years.

So some women do experience welcome physical effects from following the moon cycle. This, of course, begs the question: why?

Dr Ezzie Spencer Lunar Abundance Floral

There are plenty of theories which may be right but which I am not sure are entirely right, including the gravitational pull of the moon (why would it not affect us all in the same way?), and what is “natural” for women (more on this in a moment, and my own take on the observer effect is outlined below).

In particular, I’d love to see greater evidence for the received wisdom that it is natural/traditional/ancient for women to bleed together at the New Moon.

I’m open to being convinced. The PhD in me acknowledges how problematic it is to demand the production of written evidence from pre-industrialised societies, or from secret and oral traditions.

Yet this same PhD simultaneously wonders: Really? How do we know? And what may be the unintended consequences of stating this?

Heard less frequently online is the view that the menstrual cycle was/is not always similar in duration to the moon’s cycle. I’ve also heard that women traditionally used to bleed 3-4 times a year- and indeed that women in some types of communities outside the Western world cycle like this today. If this is true, what other factors are at play here?

Could our very understanding of the menstrual cycle be at least partially constructed by culture and modernity? Do you have any research to share? What is your experience?

What I know for sure

Increasingly, I receive messages and questions from women asking me whether it is okay that they bleed at the Full Moon, or some other time in the moon cycle, and not at the New Moon, and whether they can follow a lunar practice like mine if their menstrual cycle is out of sync with the moon cycle.

I’m also frequently asked by women how to sync their cycles better with the moon as to bleed at the “correct” time. By all means, experiment with tracking and light and so forth.

But a note of caution. If you don’t find a correlation, that might be just fine.

And if you do, I suggest that is also fine – and it also might not be a generalisable finding. To other women, or perhaps even to yourself in other phases of your life.

When I hear a woman problematising her body or put pressure on herself to be in a certain way because she is not naturally fitting within the model that she has told applies to her, I feel that something is amiss.

What I do know – because I have fallen prey to this myself – is that one of the traps in developing deeper understanding of the nature of ourselves is to use “spiritual” language and personal development concepts to continue to perpetuate ideas about what we should be like, rather than loving how we are.

Women’s bodies have been co-opted for too long: beware of new guises.

My own cycle is irregular in the sense that my bleeding swaps from the New to Full Moon. I’ve observed this over the many years since I stopped taking the pill. My cycle depends on so many factors. Perhaps it is linked with the cycles of the women around me, diet, workload, artificial light. Perhaps it means what several traditions interpret this to mean. And maybe it is just because my body Is Who She Is and because she does She Does What She Does. And that’s perfect.

Most of the women who have been tracking the moon and their cycles over many months and years observe similar patterns, that is, that their cycle moves. I’ve also heard other experts in female embodiment work, like Saida Desilets PhD, say the same thing about the women that they work with.

Of course, if you bleed, you may bleed every 29 or so days at each New Moon, or you may bleed at each Full Moon, or you may be out of sync with the moon but unlike me you may have a regular cycle and bleed every 25 or 28 or 35 days or whatever, like clockwork. I often hear about these cycles.

I’m not yet convinced that we know what is “natural” for women and their bodies, nor that there are definitive “meanings” of when you bleed – although I’ve heard many views. What I am convinced of is:

loving our bodies and our cycles as they are is key to cultivating peace, happiness and feminine power.

Dr Ezzie Spencer Lunar Abundance Feminine

What I offer here is encouragement for you to accept, adore, and love your body.

Experiment and track the moon and your cycle without worrying that there is something “wrong” (although it goes without saying that you should seek a professional medical opinion if you feel that something is seriously awry).

The paradox is that by not trying to change yourself, by approaching your body with curiosity and love, perhaps you may find that what was unwelcome melts away: but this can only happen as consequence, not as driver.

Be real with your motivation for inquiry.

Acknowledge whether you are coming from a place of genuine inquiry, or whether you are wanting to Fix yourself in some way because on a deep level you see your body/self as inadequate.

And be gentle with yourself in that inquiry, with what you find: we are so used to judging and critiquing and punishing our bodies and ourselves.

This is so fundamental in our culture that we are often not even aware that we have succumbed to this whip, especially when it is dressed up in what appears to be a divine feminine practice.

You can free yourself from this pattern through acquiring self-knowledge, acting with discernment, allowing yourself to feel what is truly going on, and opening yourself to what you find, with deep devotion.

So in summary,

After years of musing and reading and speaking with hundreds of women about this, the exact nature of the relationship between the moon and the menstrual cycle still feels murky to me.

There is a relationship, without a doubt, but what is it? I’m eager to see more research.

Aligning with the moon cycle has effects, but this may be for several reasons, including us paying more attention to and harnessing the power of what I see the moon as representing, ie our feminine self. This is a process that a physicist would call the observer effect.

Indeed as noted, in Lunar Abundance, we work with the moon as a mirror. You can look in that symbolic mirror to see multiple aspects of yourself, from different angles. If the moon ignites your curiosity to notice and learn about your body: awesome.

Witness and celebrate your body. Honour and love and celebrate the temple that she is, and the perfection that is your cycle.

Know thyself.

We are complex, multivalent beings. We can better understand ourselves and access our deeper and innate wisdom with the light of the moon as our guide.

For you, this may include the menstrual cycle. And much, much more. Lunar Abundance focuses on my personal practice, on what I know. It was the gateway for me to create a better life for myself, starting with accessing many levels and aspects of self-knowledge, from the emotional to the physical to the spiritual- as it can be for you.

// How to start with Lunar Abundance

Simple lunar tracking is a way to start connecting with the moon cycle:

// Go outside at night and look up. Notice where the moon is in the sky.

// Journal how you feel in correlation with each moon phase.

// Download your lunar planner to predict the dates, free for you here.

// Consider going D – E – E – P into this lunar and self-inquiry practice by joining my Lunar Abundance Salon when doors re-open.

Keep following my emails as I share more about my lunar practice.

And as always, I’d love to hear how this practice works for you.

She Makes Magic ~ Podcast Interview

In recent months I’ve done a slew of podcast interviews. And I’ve gotta say, I’m wowed by the well-researched and thoughtful questions on the part of my interviewers.

This one here is yet another one of my favourites: with the savvy Koren Helbig from the beautiful site She Makes Magic:

Listen in to discover:

+ How I turned my personal moon practice, developed over years of scribbling in my journal, into a thriving business helping hundreds of women worldwide.

+ What Lunar Abundance actually is – and why abundance is about far more than just money – and how to tap into it in all areas of your life.

+ Why women, particularly, need help with the yin side of life, the practice of resting and receiving.

+ How the heady, intellectual, masculine world of law took me away from feminine connection with my body, intuition, feelings and emotions – and how I used the moon to reconnect.

+ Why I call myself a “recovering over-achiever”.

+ Why I believe fear and discomfort never goes away and my personal practice for leaning into the uncomfortable parts of life.

+ How following the moon’s cycles helps me make sense of my own rhythms and emotional ebbs and flows.

Self-knowledge begets power

Dr Ezzie Spencer Lunar Abundance Nature

This weekend past, I loved the opportunity to speak at an Earth Academy event in Brisbane, Australia.

It was a gorgeous space, filled with 100 women who devoted half their weekend at this busy time of year to connect with themselves, and something bigger. Taking the time to connect with others, and to lift other women higher.

Amidst the sadness and disorientation of a rapidly changing world, I am increasingly feeling a groundswell of kindness and support, devotion and compassion. I am inspired to see many courageous women coming together to speak the truth, be real, and support each other to create a better life.

I feel privileged to have more opportunities than my foremothers, and many women in the world today. You may feel this too. We can enjoy good fortune, and also direct it into making a positive contribution. That may be through passion projects and businesses; it may be as intrepreneurs in companies or workplaces.

It will definitely be through how we ARE on a daily basis with our loved ones; within all our relationships, communities and even complete strangers, on and offline.

The first step is is to know ourselves; to know what unique essence resides within, and how to give from this essence, abundantly, from the overflow. To know how to help others, without over-exerting ourselves, without guilt, without overwhelm.

Self-knowledge begets deep personal power, which leads to the ground-quaking impact that flows from a woman who has cultivated, and is comfortable being with, her own power. Her gift to the world is not about striving: it is about how she is.

The moon’s cycle has been pivotal in my own journey of self-knowledge. The Lunar Abundance practice that I’ve created is not about the moon making us “do” anything.

The Lunar Abundance practice is about allowing the natural light – and darkness- of the moon to guide us home to who we really are.

It’s a practice, which means that it takes time. It involves attention and presence, at each moon phase and in each moon cycle.

You can follow all these for the upcoming year by downloading your complimentary lunar wall planner by clicking here.

Once you download the planner, you will be guided to set an intention at the upcoming New Moon- and beyond.

What is Abundance, Really?

Dr Ezzie Spencer Lunar Abundance What is Abundance Really

When I talk about abundance, I’m not just using this as another word for “money”.

I’m actually talking about a way of being (with certain thoughts, and actions, flowing from this in turn).

Once you develop a deep understanding of abundance, and start to act in accordance with this understanding, my experience has been that money will indeed flow. But it’s not about striving:

Abundance involves gentle steeping in self-love, and trusting in the (right) process.

We were discussing the roots of the word “abundance” in the Lunar Abundance Salon recently. One of the Salon Sisters, Catherine, noted that the word “abundance” comes from the Latin words:

“unda” ==> “wave”
“ab” and “undare” ==> “from” and “surge”
“abundare” ==> “overflow”

One of the core characteristics of abundance is about being in the “flow” – as fierce as that can be.

In the Salon, many shared that learning the roots of the word “abundance” helped them to better understand that living in abundance is to live in the overflow, and that the Lunar Abundance practice helps to ride the surging waves of life, to know that abundance is about receiving energy and joy and love, and it’s also about sharing the good vibes from this overflow with others.

Perfectly put 🙂

Money is a tangible expression of energy that flows- and is perhaps the most obvious one when we speak about abundance. But money is not the only way that this flow of energy expresses itself.

Personally, I have moved from a struggling/grasping mindset (where on a subconscious level, I believed that life had to be hard, and kept myself small through guilt and fear), to a situation where I am increasingly being invited to gracefully receive increasing amounts of attention and opportunity in all areas of my life.

When you develop a true abundance mindset, you will find that when living in this type of flow, there’s actually an abundance of everything in your life- connection, job offers, clients- and even romantic interest 😉

Most of all, there is an abundance of opportunity.

Those are the effects, then, of living in an abundant way.

On the surface, abundance may look like a bank balance with several zeroes, and that *may* be an indicator of abundance, but it’s not what it is really about. I’m increasingly understanding that abundance is a way of living.

When I mean is that abundance is more of a mindset, a way of being – and, importantly, acting and behaving in a way that is informed by this perception – than it is about external markers.

Most of all, abundance involves a deep knowing that everything is OK. Living in abundance means that you fully internalise this knowing.

(knowing not that it will be okay, but that it is okay).

Abundance is about knowing that the Earth is a constantly replenishing place. And abundance means that you are able to hold tangible expressions of abundant energy- like money.

That involves having discernment to not just purchase another thing, making an “investment” without properly researching it because others tell you it is a good idea, or fritter it away on a myriad of random things that you don’t even pay attention to or notice until it is gone.

In other words, squandering is not part of a true abundance mindset.

Hoarding isn’t either- enjoying and wisely investing your money is essential.

And again, money is not the whole picture.

Money may come, but this is an indicator of abundance, rather than a synonym.

Having money in the bank does not necessarily mean that you have an abundant mindset. It’s a familiar story: becoming cashed up, and then promptly spending that cash or making dubious or unthinking investments {yes, I’ve been there- a story for another day}, or transferring anxiety about making money into anxiety about keeping that money {or making more}.

Abundance precedes money but it is about much, much more than money.

Abundance is about freeing yourself from anxiety about what you don’t have, living in a relaxed way where you know that you will never be “without”, because you have a practice that allows you to live in the overflow, and because you GET the principles that allow you to cultivate more.

Abundance involves being happy, and being well.

Abundance is about peace, as much as about prosperity.

And the best way to cultivate abundance is to practice.

My practice is a super simple one, starting with the New Moon. You can download your free lunar calendar here to get started with the practice.
